As a Cincinnati and Dayton wedding photographer, I get to meet people in some of the most meaningful seasons of their lives — and Dana and Ashton are a perfect example of how love shows up no matter the circumstances (or the temperature 🥶).
I first met Dana and Ashton at a wedding I was photographing, and I immediately loved their energy together. They’re currently dating and live in Dallas, where they met through church and both work in the corporate world. When they came back to Ohio for Christmas to visit family, they decided it was the perfect time to schedule a winter couples photography session in Cincinnati at Devou Park.
And when I say winter… I mean winter.
The day of their session was 10 degrees and incredibly windy, which made for quite the adventure. We were battling the wind whipping through Dana’s hair, laughing between shots, and taking frequent breaks to warm up in the car. It wasn’t the easiest weather for photos, but honestly? That challenge made the session even more memorable.
Despite the cold, Dana and Ashton showed up fully — leaning into each other, laughing through frozen fingers, and letting their connection shine. As a couples photographer, moments like this are my favorite reminder that photos aren’t about perfect conditions. They’re about real emotion.
One of the things I love most about couples and engagement photography is telling a story that feels authentic. Dana and Ashton’s session was full of genuine smiles, quiet moments, and that effortless joy that comes from simply being together. Even with the wind and freezing temperatures, their love and happiness came through in every image.
Dana’s auburn hair against the winter tones and the Cincinnati skyline was stunning, and Ashton’s calm, steady presence balanced every frame. Together, they brought so much warmth to a day that felt anything but warm.
Sessions like this are proof that you don’t need warm sunshine for beautiful photos — just trust, connection, and a willingness to embrace the moment.
If you’re visiting family, home for the holidays, or just want photos that feel true to who you are, I’d love to help tell your story. I photograph weddings, engagements, and couples sessions in Cincinnati, Dayton, and beyond, and I’m always up for braving the cold if it means creating images that matter.
Dana and Ashton, thank you for trusting me, freezing with me, and letting me capture such a sweet season of your story 🤍
